Here is one interesting quote from the article in Out:
Knowing that "Are you gay?" would be among the first questions lobbed at him, Criss initially thought he would tell reporters something ambiguous and "idealistic" like "It doesn’t matter if I’m gay or straight -- I’m playing a role."
Ultimately, Darren decided it would be better to come clean and tell the truth clearly and uneventfully: I'm straight. No kidding. We know, Darren. It's obvious. So, where's the story? Well, perhaps being a straight actor in Hollywood is a bit unusual. I'll give him that. And in fairness, he didn't raise the issue. The collective we did.
"It’s no secret that I haven’t always been the world’s most decent human being. I’m a recovering alcoholic, with a history of being a slightly terrible friend, a very terrible business partner and a very, very terrible boyfriend. Hell, a real, grown-up publishing house has commissioned not one – but two – books about how much of a dick I used to be. (I say “used to be” but, yunno, it’s a process)."
